Stream Advisory Rescinded for Mill Creek from 18th Road to Little Blue River

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has rescinded a stream advisory for Mill Creek from 18th Road to Little Blue River that was issued on December 9, 2022.

Part of the stream advisory from 21st Road to Little Blue River was rescinded on January 14, 2023. Click here to view the press release.

The stream advisory was the result of a crude oil discharge from a TC Energy pipeline that occurred on December 7, 2022. TC Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and KDHE have worked to ensure proper cleanup of the spill. The oil discharge into Mill Creek did not impact – or threaten – nearby drinking water wells or systems.

Water sampling indicates that tested contaminant levels are within normal range.

KDHE has deemed the stream safe for secondary (wading) contact and livestock use.
