Notice of Drinking Water and Non-Potable Water Availability for the City of Caney, Montgomery County

For Immediate Release Graphic

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) is issuing this notice for the City of Caney in Montgomery County. The city has drinking water and non-potable water available to its customers while the water system is out of service.

Both bottled water for drinking and cooking and non-potable water for sanitation will be available at City Hall, 100 West 4th Street, Caney, KS 67333, between 6 a.m. - 9 p.m. Water will be available until regular service is restored.

  • BOTTLED WATER IS TO BE USED FOR DRINKING AND COOKING.
  • DO NOT USE NON-POTABLE WATER FOR DRINKING OR COOKING. Customers should bring their own containers (buckets, coolers, empty jugs, etc.) to take away non-potable water. This water may be used for flushing toilets and other sanitation needs, but not for human consumption.

This Notice took effect on December 26 and will remain in effect until the City restores the water system.

The Boil Water Advisory previously issued on December 25 will stay in effect until conditions that placed the system at risk of bacterial contamination are resolved, and laboratory testing indicates the absence of bacteria in water samples.

For consumer questions, please contact the water system at (620) 879-2772, or KDHE at (785) 296-5514. For consumer information, please visit KDHE’s PWS Consumer Information webpage: kdhe.ks.gov/waterdisruption

Restaurants and other food establishments that have questions about the impact on their business can contact the Kansas Department of Agriculture’s food safety & lodging program at [email protected] or call (785) 564-6767.
