After continued work and dedication through the pandemic response in their local communities over the last two years, more than 300 Kansas environmental professionals will gather at the 2022 Kansas Environmental Conference on August 9-11 in Manhattan, Kansas, at the Manhattan Conference Center/Hilton Garden Inn.

“In the midst of the pandemic, environmental workers across the state continued to work to protect and improve the environment of Kansans,” KDHE Secretary Janet Stanek said. “This conference is an opportunity to allow everyone to get re-energized, reconnect with colleagues and bring valuable information back to their communities.”

The conference will highlight key issues on conservation, restoration and other environmental quality projects and programs conducted by industries, agencies and non-profit organizations. The conference will also provide updates on a variety of current environmental issues, innovative technologies, regulatory information and pollution prevention activities.

Speakers will present on a variety of topics organized into different breakout sessions. KDHE Secretary Janet Stanek will kick off the conference by providing an overview of the agency and presenting two organizations with the 2022 Environmental Stewardship Award. Other presenters are Leo Henning, Director of Environment, Jeff Hughley, Senior Advisor for Community Outreach, EPA Region 7.

Throughout the conference, the Kansas Health and Environmental Laboratories’ Mobile Laboratory Experience will be onsite and available for tours during the reception on the final evening! The audience includes close to three hundred individuals comprised of leaders and staff from the local health departments across the state, staff from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and other environmentally focused organizations and professions.
