The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has issued a stream advisory for an Unnamed Tributary to South Fork Pottawatomie Creek, located in Garnett, Kansas near Northeast Neosho Road.
The stream advisory is a result of operation problems at the Garnett Wastewater Treatment Plant. The city of Garnett is working to repair the problem.
The advisory has been issued because potential elevated bacteria and contaminants may be present in Unnamed Tributary to South Fork Pottawatomie Creek, located in Garnett, Kansas near Northeast Neosho Road South of Garnett, Kansas to the South Fork Pottawatomie Creek. If you live or have activities near this stream, do not enter the stream or allow children or pets to enter the stream.
KDHE will rescind the advisory once flows recede and subsequent bacteria testing indicates secondary (wading) contact has been deemed safe. For further information, please contact at the city of Garnett, James DePriest at 785-433-1216.
