Free Hazardous Waste Generator Workshops 

Join us for the KDHE Bureau of Waste Management's annual Hazardous Waste Generator Workshops. Everyone who has responsibilities for managing hazardous waste is welcome to attend this free workshop. Registration is required to ensure there is enough room and to be able to contact participants in case of cancellations or changes to the meeting information. Basic and advanced sessions will be available with multiple dates to provide flexibility.

Schedule & Location

We will be hosting these workshops in October of this year instead of our usual September:

  • October 20, 2022 - Salina Area Tech, 2526 Centennial Rd, Salina
  • October 25, 2022 -  Wichita Water Center, 101 E Pawnee, Wichita
  • November 3, 2022 - Olathe Health Education Center, 21201 W 152nd St, Olathe

Note:  More workshops will be scheduled, and an email will be sent once they become available.

Basic Workshop

The basic workshop (offered in the morning 9:00 - 12:00 pm) is designed as an introductory course in Kansas HW Regulations (RCRA) including: 

  • Waste Determinations
  • Container Management
  • Generator Classifications Emergency Preparedness and Training Requirements
  • What to Expect During an Inspection

Advanced Workshop

 The advanced workshop (offered in the afternoons 1:00 - 4:00 pm) will provide a more detailed look at the following (plus additional advanced topics): 

  • Regulatory Updates
  • e-Manifest Solvent-Contaminated Wipes Rule
  • K, U, and P-Listings
  • F-Listings
  • Used Oil Requirements

Additional advanced topics (time permitting):  

  • Universal Waste
  • Outreach
  • Compliance Training Manual
  • Aerosol Cans

Feel free to attend one or both basic and advanced. Registration is required to ensure there are enough seats and to be able to contact participants if there is cancellations due to weather or change in venue due to size constraints.

Certificates will NOT be provided. If confirmation of attendance is needed, a KDHE representative can sign forms provided to them at the time of the workshop. No confirmations will be provided after the date of the workshop.
