Consumer Information Regarding a Disruption in Water Service

When a public water supply (PWS) system experiences a disruption in service there are precautions that consumers may need to take during and after the incident to insure water is safe to use. The most common disruption in service is a loss of pressure in the distribution system, resulting in the issuance of a Boil Water Advisory (BWA). Other common incidents include discoloration or cloudy water, loss of chlorine residual or taste and order complaints. Flushing of the PWS distribution system and the service connection internal plumbing may be required to address these complaints. Consumers should contact their PWS when water service concerns occur.
