Home Visitor's Training Program
Two prerequisite courses are required before taking the Basic Home Visitor Training (1043474):
- Abuse and Neglect (1043466)
- HIPAA: An Overview (1041019)
The Basic Home Visitor training is designed for individuals that work with families of young children in a home-based setting. This course will provide home visitors with the knowledge that they need to be successful when working with families within their program. Some of the topics included in the training are self-care, setting boundaries, ethics in working with families, and communicating with families and staff. Once the online portion of the class is completed and a post-assessment has been passed, participants will then be eligible to enroll in the 2-day face-to-face course to complete the training.
The Basic Home Visitor Training (1043474) course contains 6 modules and a post-assessment. The online portion should take approximately 8 hours total to complete and does not need to be done all at once. For those interested in taking the course go to the KansasTRAIN website.
Once you have logged in/created a user account, you can enter the course number into the search box on the upper right-hand side of the page. This will take you to the Basic Home Visitation Training course, select the "Registration" tab. Here you will see all six modules and the final assessment. There is a registration fee associated with this course. Select the "Go to Step 2 of Registration" button to be routed to the Kansas Head Start Association website to access the credit card option or email Peggy Kelly to request an invoice for payment by check. Once the payment has been received, the new learner will be approved for access to the training modules.
You will need to complete each of the modules in order to take the final assessment. Upon successful completion of the course, course journal, and final assessment, you will receive confirmation that you have passed the course. Once you have completed the course, contact Peggy Kell to get information about signing up for the face-to-face portion of the course.
