Projects submittals that result in one or more new sources of supply must also include written confirmation that the public water supply system’s existing sources of supply and existing infrastructure will be compatible with its new sources of supply so that the intermixing of the sources of supply and subsequent treatment and distribution will not result in water quality issues and/or non-compliance with the federal drinking water regulations.
While the substance of the confirmation will be both determined by a professional engineer, as defined by K.S.A. 74-7003, and amendments thereto, and sealed, signed and dated by the same, it must be of sufficient depth to responsibly speak to the intent of the confirmation. The confirmation is to be included, along with the plans, specifications, and permit application submitted for review and approval. This additional consideration for projects where new sources of supply are involved through one or more new sources of supply will additionally support this agency’s mission to protect and improve the health and environment of all Kansans.
