Family Advisory Network (FAN)

Emergency Medical Services for ChildrenBackground

In 1999 the Emergency Medical Services for Children program developed the Family Advisory Network (FAN).

Purpose

The purpose of the FAN was to incorporate family members into the national and state EMSC programs so that the communities they represented would have a voice. FAN representatives have assisted the EMSC program in improving pediatric patient outcomes through education, community outreach, resource creation, and policy development.

An actively involved FAN can help promote the value of family-centered care in emergency medicine across the entire state.

Family Advisory Network Representative

Currently, the Kansas EMSC Program is pleased to have Mrs. Monica Riggs serving as our Family Advisory Network representative. Mrs. Riggs represents community concerns on both the EMSC Advisory Committee and the EMSC Advisory Committee Board.
