Preventive Health & Health Services Block Grant

The Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant Program (PHHSBG) is  funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. 

PHHSBG funds allow us to use dollars where we need them, when we need them, to protect your health.

The PHHSBG allows us to:

  • Address emerging health issues and gaps
  • Decrease premature death and disabilities by focusing on the leading preventable risk factors
  • Establish data and surveillance systems to monitor the health status of targeted populations
  • Support local programs to achieve healthy communities
  • Work to achieve health equity and eliminate health disparities by addressing the social determinants of health

Our funding may be allocated to different health topic areas including:

  • Educational and Community-Based Programs
  • Emergency Medical Services
  • Heart Disease and Stroke
  • Immunization and Infectious Diseases
  • Injury and Violence Prevention
  • Maternal, Infant, and Child Health
  • Nutrition and Weight Status
  • Oral Health
  • Physical Activity
  • Public Health Infrastructure

A public hearing will take place on Thursday, June 9, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. via Zoom Webinar. The meeting is open to the public, but participants must register at this link to attend
