303(d) Methodology & List of Impaired Waters

Section 303(d) of the Clean Water Act requires states to identify all water bodies where state water quality standards are not being met. In response, Kansas has biennially prepared lists of water quality impaired stream segments, wetlands, and lakes from 1994 through 2022. The EPA requested that Kansas consolidate the 2006 and 2008 303(d) lists; therefore, the EPA did not rule on the 2006 303(d) list.
